Is your content engaging? Or does it just self-promote?

We’ve said it until we’re blue in the face. Content is king. But, your content must be a benevolent ruler, not a dictator! In other words, are you engaging your reader? Are you answering questions? Are you entertaining? Providing food for thought? Or are you just constantly “selling” and talking “at” the consumer rather than talking “with” them?

Consumers today are looking for relationships. They don’t want the same old sales spiel. They want to know why they should buy from you. After all, there’s a lot of competition out there. Odds are, someone can beat you on price, but consumers aren’t always looking for the lowest price. They’re looking for who impresses them the most. People want to buy from people. Personalize your content. Tell stories. Be creative. How can you stand out from the crowd? What would you want to hear if you were the consumer? Can you make their life easier? Can you solve a problem? Be real. Show that you’re an individual who cares. Prove you want to be the solution and that you’ll stand behind your product. 

The key is to be engaging!
